These terms govern enrollment at First Discoveries Christian Preschool and form a binding agreement between the legal guardian completing enrollment and the school, along with its partner organizations FirstConnect LLC and Lovewalk Life. These organizations support our families, students and help train our staff and maintain our high standards for connection based education and our unique individualized approach to early childhood education.

Programs and Enrollment. First Discoveries enrolls children ages two through six during the school year and ages two through seven during summer camps. Programs include Morning Discovery, nine am to one pm; Full Discovery, nine am to six pm; and Afternoon Spanish Language Discovery, three pm to six pm. Extended care is available from eight am. Enrollment is offered year-round as space allows, completed one year at a time, on a first-come, first-served basis. Returning families and siblings receive priority. A trial day is required for children under two and a half years old. All students must be able to participate in group activities with developmentally appropriate independence, including toileting and rest time. Constant one-to-one supervision for a single child is not available. If a child requires accommodations, including incidental medical services as defined by California Community Care Licensing, parents must request an evaluation and provide required medical documentation before attendance. Enrollment may be denied or discontinued if required needs fall outside the school's ability to provide safe care. Failure to disclose relevant health or safety needs results in immediate withdrawal.

Tuition, Fees, and Payment. Tuition is calculated annually based on the program and days selected, not on daily attendance. Scheduled holidays, in-service days, and school breaks are already factored in. Current rates are published on the school website and may change with a minimum of thirty days' notice. The forty-dollar application fee is applied toward the registration fee after any discounts. Registration fees are non-refundable and apply per school year or summer session: three hundred eighty dollars for the school year, two hundred fifty dollars for full summer camp, five hundred thirty dollars for summer camp plus school year. The emergency kit is a one-time thirty-five-dollar fee for new students. The late fee is twenty-five dollars. The sign-in and sign-out compliance fee is seven dollars per missing signature, with a one-day grace period to correct. When enrolled in a monthly payment plan, the first scheduled school-year payment is a non-refundable deposit that secures the child's space through the final month and is applied to the last month of attendance. Monthly payments are due on the fifth. Summer camp of four weeks or less is paid in full at enrollment. Five to eight weeks may be paid in full or split into June and July. Summer camp plus school year may be one annual payment, twelve monthly payments, or a June deposit with summer tuition in July or August and school-year tuition September through May. School year only may be one annual payment or ten monthly payments, September through May. Payments are collected automatically through Playground, and parents agree to cover all processing fees. Late or returned payments incur fees. Continued non-payment without communication may result in suspension of attendance or release of the child's space. In the event of bad debt — defined as more than thirty days past due without a written payment agreement — parents are responsible for all collection, enforcement costs, and attorney's fees as permitted by law. Families experiencing hardship are encouraged to contact the school promptly.

Deposits, Withdrawal, and Refunds. Families may cancel enrollment and the deposit no later than April fifteenth of the calendar year the school year begins. After April fifteenth, the deposit cannot be canceled or refunded and may be due even if services are not used. Summer camp cancellations must be submitted before May first. Early withdrawal requires written notice using the official form; verbal notices are not accepted. An Early Cancellation Fee equal to any discounted registration fees applies if a family withdraws early after receiving a discount. Tuition payments continue until the Early Withdrawal Request is processed, with no exceptions due to staffing requirements. Discounts applied at enrollment remain valid only while the child completes the enrolled term.

Program Changes. Changes to programs or schedules must be requested in advance in writing and are subject to availability. Approved changes may require updated tuition, and any difference in tuition or deposits is due at the time of the change. Program changes are not retroactive, and previously paid tuition is not refunded when enrollment days are reduced.

Attendance and Absences. Tuition is not adjusted for missed days. Make-up days are not offered. One Vacation Credit of twenty-five percent for one calendar week is available after six months of continuous enrollment, is non-cumulative, resets annually, and must be requested at least two weeks in advance. It may be applied to extended illness but not also toward a separate trip. Childcare during Winter or Easter breaks may be offered when at least five students enroll; meal service is not available, and all food must be peanut and tree-nut free with no exceptions. Payment for break childcare is collected the day after signup and is non-refundable unless cancelled by the last day to sign up.

Health and Safety. Children should arrive well and able to participate fully. Keep children home for fever, vomiting, diarrhea, persistent cough, rash, or other contagious symptoms. Children must be symptom-free for at least twenty-four hours without medication before returning. Teachers conduct a brief daily health check on arrival. If a child becomes ill during the day, families will be contacted and asked to pick up promptly. Families are responsible for maintaining medical insurance for their child and keeping emergency contact information current. Basic first aid is provided for minor injuries. In a serious emergency, parents will be contacted immediately and emergency services called if necessary. Parents assume responsibility for all medical and emergency-related costs. The school cannot assume responsibility for a child who has not been properly signed in by an authorized adult. If a child remains after closing without parent contact, appropriate authorities may be contacted as required by law.

Sign-In and Sign-Out. Daily sign-in and sign-out through the Playground app is required by state licensing. Only individuals on the child's authorized pickup list may sign a child out, using the family pin. Photo identification is required until staff are familiar with a new person. Written authorization is required for anyone not listed in advance. Teachers and administrators are not legally able to sign children out.

Behavior and Guidance. The school uses a connection-based approach, responding to behavior as communication with empathy, consistency, and grace. Time-in with teachers is used rather than time-out. Families are essential partners and agree to cooperate with staff and participate in mutually agreed-upon strategies, which may include collaboration with FirstConnect and Lovewalk Life. If behavior does not improve within the agreed timeframe, or if parents resist or reject recommendations, enrollment may be terminated. The school reserves the right to decline or discontinue enrollment as permitted by law.

Media Consent. Students may be included in photos, videos, and audio recordings created during activities by First Discoveries Christian Preschool, FirstConnect LLC, and Lovewalk Life. Recordings may be used to promote the organizations through advertisements, donation campaigns, television, social media, websites, printed materials, and communication platforms. Recordings will never be sold, licensed, or used by outside commercial advertisers. Parents may opt out fully or limit use to First Discoveries only by submitting the official written opt-out form. If a parent opts out of all media use, the child will not be included in any public or group media, including internal school communication apps.

Assumption of Risk and Liability Release. Participation includes normal and reasonable risks associated with childhood activities such as play, movement, outdoor exploration, and group care. By enrolling, families acknowledge and accept these risks. Families release First Discoveries Christian Preschool, Lovewalk Life, and FirstConnect LLC, along with their staff, board members, volunteers, and partners, from liability arising from participation in school activities, to the extent permitted by law. Families indemnify and hold these organizations harmless from any injury or exposure to illness arising from or connected with participation. Families covenant not to sue or present any claim for personal injury, property damage, or wrongful death. If a parent notices or believes any school area is unsafe, they will immediately advise the director.

Emergency Medical Authorization. Parents grant permission for the Director or Acting Director to take whatever steps may be necessary to obtain emergency medical care, including attempting to contact a parent or guardian through emergency information provided, and if no one can be reached, calling 911 and following EMS instructions, including transport to a hospital. A parent or guardian must arrive to be released if 911 is called. Parents are responsible for all expenses incurred.

Confidentiality and Records. Personal information, records, and observations are treated with care and shared only with authorized individuals as required for program operation, licensing, or safety. The school may share limited directory-style information with enrolled families, such as child and parent first names, for school-related connection only. Class rosters should not be used for solicitation or outside distribution. Families may request access to their child's records in accordance with licensing regulations.

Abuse and Neglect. Staff are Mandated Reporters and are required by law to report suspected child abuse or neglect to the appropriate authorities.

Licensing. First Discoveries is licensed by the California Department of Social Services, Community Care Licensing Division. Licensing authorities may inspect the facility, review records, and interview staff or children without prior notice. The school provides non-medical care and supervision only, as permitted under its childcare license, and offers only services for which it is licensed, qualified, and able to safely provide.

SMS Texting. By providing a mobile number and completing SMS consent, you agree to receive emergency alerts, reminders, and updates from First Discoveries Christian Preschool, FirstConnect, and Lovewalk Life. Message frequency may vary. Message and data rates may apply. Text HELP for help or reply STOP to opt out. You must be eighteen or older to consent. Consent is not required as a condition of enrollment. No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Information sharing to subcontractors in support services, such as customer service, is permitted.

Governing Law. This agreement is governed by California law and may only be modified in writing. In the event of any conflict between this agreement and the Parent Handbook, the signed agreement takes precedence. By enrolling, families confirm they have reviewed, understand, and agree to honor all policies contained in both documents. All parents and legal guardians are jointly and severally responsible for all obligations, payments, and compliance with these terms.
